Alexis Marshall, senior from Neah-Kah-Nie High School, has been selected to receive the North Tillamook County Women’s Association scholarship award for 2019. She plans to attend Oregon State University to study math and science.
Alexis has been an outstanding student at Neah-Kah-Nie High School. For the past 7 years, she has been on the honor roll every trimester and maintained perfect attendance at school. She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and first clarinet and section leader in NHN’s concert band. Alexis was inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore and received the President’s Gold Award for Educational Excellence and the Women in STEM award for achievement in mathematics. She is also a competitive and recreational dancer at Oregon Coast Dance Center.
Alexis is recognized by one of her teachers as “determined, dedicated and capable.” One of her references, a local business owner, described Alexis as “dependable, energetic and a delight to be around … an exceptional young woman with unlimited potential.”
The North Tillamook County Women’s Association Scholarship was originated by Jan Markle in 2007 to recognize graduating female students of Neah-Kah-Nie High School. The organization’s motto, Women helping women of all ages and circumstances help make lives, families and community stronger, guides other grants that are given to several community groups.
